Whether you're planning on eloping or are just taking your high school senior photos, here’s everything you need to know to plan your photoshoot at Loveland Pass.

Best Time to Visit

Fall

During the fall months, typically from late September through October, Loveland Pass transforms into a kaleidoscope of vibrant colors as the aspen trees turn shades of gold and orange. The contrast of the changing leaves against the rugged peaks of the Rockies creates a stunning and romantic atmosphere for your photoshoot.

Winter

In winter, Loveland Pass is blanketed in snow, offering a magical winter wonderland setting. The snow-covered landscape and frosty trees create a serene and picturesque backdrop for your photos. Keep in mind that winter conditions can be harsh, so dress warmly and prepare for potential weather changes. It will also be dependent on how deep the snow is. Sometimes the pass is inaccessible in the winter.

Spring and Summer

During spring and summer, Loveland Pass showcases lush alpine meadows dotted with wildflowers and clear blue skies. These seasons offer a refreshing and vibrant backdrop for photos, with opportunities to capture the expansive views of the surrounding mountain ranges. The winter snow starts to melt at the end of May and there will be a chance of snowfall up until mid June. The snow doesn't completely melt on the surrounding mountains until mid July. The lake is only accessible mid-June through the beginning of September and it's dependent on snow fall.

Photography Tips

Golden Hour and Sunset

If you're looking for those creamy dreamy vibes that you're seeing in a lot of the photos here, I recommend having your photo session during sunset. The sunset provides soft, warm golden light that makes photos feel like a dream.

Evere changing light

I love Loveland Pass because depending on the season and time of day, we can get dramatically different colors which brings such a unique vibe to each photoshoot.

Different Landscapes

If you're looking for some variety, I recommend a minimum of 2 hour photoshoot and starting at the lake and ending at sunset on top of the pass. This way we can take advantage of all of the scenery that the pass has to offer.

Weather Considerations

Colorado weather can change rapidly, especially at high elevations. Be prepared for sudden temperature drops, wind, and potential storms by dressing in layers.
