Getting There and Parking

Chautauqua Park is easily accessible by car and there is not too far of a walk from where you park to where we'll meet. Parking can be limited, especially on weekends and during popular hiking times. Consider arriving a little early to secure a spot in the main parking lot or park on the sides streets leading to the park.

Photography Permits

While personal and casual photography is generally permitted in Chautauqua Park, professional photo shoots may require a permit. Contact the City of Boulder Parks and Recreation Department or visit their website to obtain the necessary permits and review any specific guidelines or restrictions. I personally do not cover any permit costs but can help attain them.

Tips for a Successful Photo shoot

Weather Preparedness

Colorado weather can be unpredictable. I recommend bringing an extra jacket, sunscreen, and water. If you plan on wearing heels or more unstable shoes, I highly recommend bringing a more comfortable pair of walking shoes as the short walk up the valley is very steep.

Respect Nature and Wildlife

Chautauqua Park is home to diverse wildlife and fragile ecosystems. I keep a Leave No Trace policy. We will stay on designated trails and avoid disturbing plants and animals.

Timing and Lighting

Plan your photo shoot around sunrise or sunset to take advantage of the soft, golden light that enhances the natural beauty of the Flatirons and surrounding landscape.

Crowd Management

To minimize distractions, consider visiting during less popular times and during weekdays.

Backup Plan

As always, we will have a backup plan and location if things do not go the way we plan with weather or park closures.
