Nestled amidst the picturesque landscapes of Lyons, Colorado, Stone Mountain Lodge stands as a haven of natural beauty and rustic charm, making it an ideal venue for couples seeking an enchanting backdrop for their wedding day. As a wedding photographer, I recently had the incredible opportunity to document a heartwarming celebration of love at this beautiful venue.
I've been to Stone Mountain Lodge before and am familiar with the landscape, but every time I go, I end up captivated by its rustic beauty. The lodge is nestled against the breathtaking backdrop of the Rocky Mountains, offering wide views of the valley that seem to stretch on forever. The babbling creek, towering trees, and charming wooden cabins added to the rustic allure that makes this venue truly magical. As a wedding photographer, it's always so nice to get to shoot at venues that have a mix of familiar comfiness and elegance, which can be hard to achieve sometimes.
The day began with the bustling energy of preparation. As a photographer, I felt privileged to capture the candid moments of joy, nervousness, and excitement that unfolded during these intimate pre-wedding hours. I always aim to be unobtrusive yet attentive. The build-up to the wedding ceremony always has a unique feel; there are so many emotions stirring, and it's important to capture every tear, smile, and small detail that unfolds.
The outdoor ceremony took place in a beautifully landscaped area with a tall hill scape and red rocks behind it. The weather was mostly kind to us, offering a warm and sunny day with a dash of rain, though nothing can ruin the spirits of a wedding day. Witnessing two people come together and celebrate the love they've created with one another is truly magical. I've known Claire since we were in elementary school, so it was wonderful getting to capture her day and witness the love she has cultivated with James. Their vows were absolute tear-jerkers.
Following the ceremony, we took advantage of the stunning surroundings for the couples' portraits. At Stone Mountain Lodge, they take the couple up the mountain via a golf cart, where we get unobstructed views of the surrounding landscape. Up there, I was able to capture so much beauty. Between the obvious love they share with one another and the sweeping views, the photos turned out absolutely stunning, and I'm so grateful that I had the honor of capturing it all through my lens.
As the sun began to set, the reception area came alive with twinkling lights and the sounds of celebration. The rustic charm of Stone Mountain Lodge and the couple's personal touches made for a truly enchanting atmosphere. The heartfelt toasts, the lively dances, and the shared moments of pure joy created a tapestry of memories that the couple will cherish forever.
