HOW TO PICK THE RIGHT LOCATION FOR YOUR PROPOSAL

Colorado is such a beautiful state. There is such a wide variety of scenery. You can go from the pure white rocks at the Paint Mines to the hulking green and brown Rocky Mountains.

Because of the vast possibilities and endless choices, I have narrowed it down to five locations that I think would would make for a beautiful mountain proposal.

The location you choose should reflect who you are as a couple. Think of your happy place and consider what makes it so special. Now keep that in mind while deciding your location.

If you already have the perfect outfit in mind, make sure it compliments your location, and the same goes both ways. If you want to wear a green dress, don’t choose a park full of greenery and If you want pictures by the ocean, maybe wear white instead of blue.

HERE'S A LITTLE OVERVIEW

Loveland Pass

Loveland Pass in Colorado, at over 11,000 feet elevation, provides a stunning backdrop for senior photoshoots with panoramic views of the Rocky Mountains, snow-capped peaks, alpine meadows, and lakes. The dramatic scenery, especially during sunrise or sunset, offers a unique backdrop for your senior photos.

Loveland Pass

Keystone, Colorado

THE Proposal

This location is out of service which can be tricky but there is only one area to park in and it will be fairly easy to find each other once you arrive. The best spot for the proposal is only 100 meters from the parking area.

Extra Fees

None

Key Features

  • Sweeping mountain Views
  • Not too crowded
  • Diverse landscapes including lakes
  • Great spot for astro photography
  • No cell service

Lake Dillon Marina

Dillon, Colorado

THE Proposal

There is a parking lot right next to Dillon amplitheater that I recommend parking at. I will be under the pergola/picnic area and I recommend proposing between that structure and the lake for a beautiful backdrop.

Extra Fees

None

Key Features

  • Sweeping mountain Views
  • Not too crowded
  • Diverse landscapes including lakes
  • Good cell service, easy to communicate with our phones

Sapphire Point

Breckenridge, Colorado

THE Proposal

Sapphire Point shouldn't be too crowded during sunset. When you park you'll want to go on the paved bike path that is to the left of the outhouse. I will be in my car waiting to see you walk down the path and follow you to capture the big moment.

Extra Fees

None

Key Features

  • Sweeping mountain Views
  • Not too crowded
  • Diverse landscapes including the lake
  • Not the best cell service

The following locations are closer to Denver and thus astro photography isn't a possibility because of the Light pollution

Lost Gulch Overlook

Boulder, Colorado

The Proposal

Lost Gulch Overlook is another spot with questionable cell service but it's fairly easy to find the overlook and me to blend in. From the parking lot you'll want to go on the left trail of the sign and walk towards where everyone else is walking. There's a beautiful overlook that you'll want to walk around until you find the right spot. It's not very big so where I'll be positioned you'll basically be able to propose anywhere.

Extra Fees

A $25 photo permit is required for the majority of photo shoots and can be attained through Boulder Country Park Services.

Key Features

  • Sweeping Mountain Views
  • Can be crowded
  • 10 minutes from Chautauqua Park

Lookout Mountain

Golden, Colorado

Proposal

When you part at the parking lot you'll want to go down the trail to the right of the bathrooms. You'll walk a max of a hundred yards, basically until the view opens up and I'll be trailing behind you ready to take pictures whenever you're ready.

Extra Fees

A $25 photo permit is required for the majority of photo shoots and can be attained through Jefferson County Park Services.

Key Features

  • Beautiful mountain views
  • Closest mountain views to Denver
  • Versatile: forest & mountain backdrops
  • Not great for astro photography

Any Last Questions?

How will we make sure we go to the same spot?

I will do my best to explain the spot we're going to and if time, take pictures of it so we are coordinated. I will also send over google locations so we can as precise as possible.

What do we do after the proposal?

After the proposal we will take normal engagement photos so if you'd like to do an outfit change, you're totally welcome to!

How will you hide?

I usually try to blend into the environment and will be dressed very casually to avoid suspicion. If there is a place to hide and we both have service then I will attempt that.

Good vibes & scenery

Don't see one you love?

Don't worry! There's plenty more where that came from so if you want to take a good look at more options, you just let me know and we will deep dive into Google until we find the perfect location for you!
